All Coloring Pages > Educational > Alphabet > Letter M

Looking for educational printable activities about the letter “M”? These free coloring sheets are great practice for a variety of skills for preschoolers and kindergarteners!

I have two “school aged” children in our family that I homeschool right now, (I put that in quotes because truly, toddlers are learning all day too!) One of their favorite ways to learn and practice letters is to combine their love of coloring with different letter recognition skills.

Now, I now some homeschool families are not too keen on worksheets, but my kids LOVE them, in addition to their other activities. We’re all about coloring, and these letter “M” worksheets combine the fun and laidback-ness of coloring with some important skills that young kids should be learning.

I will be adding more letters and activities over time, so check back and enjoy these printable letter M pages!

This letter M color by number helps kids practice number recognition, how to follow instructions, and how to use a key. The child colors in each section with the color indicated by the number to reveal the letter M at the end of their finished design!

Letter M Font Recognition

Something we have worked on in our homeschool is to recognize letters in various fonts. Not every M will look EXACTLY the same, but they will all have the same basic characteristics (namely the two mountain peaks or swoops.)

This font recognition coloring page helps kids notice how all the “M’s” are different but still symbolizing the same letter. You can also teach a little bit about cursive, serifs, and san-serifs!

M is a Monster!

When my kids are first learning to write their alphabet, something I like to do is think of various items the letters look like to help them remember. M can become a mountain, or in this case, a monster! The two horns on top of the monster can help the child remember that M has two peaks, and two legs.

M is for Monkey

This coloring page introduces the idea that the word for the image shows makes the sound and starts with the letter they are learning. Monkey starts with the M letter, and the M sound.

“Start’s With M” Color-in

In this activity, your child will be a detective to determine which images start with the letter M, and which do not.

This helps them learn decoding skills such as identifying an object, breaking down its beginning sound, determining if the sound matches their goal sound and letter, and then separating the correct answer from the rest by coloring it in.

The final printable in this list today is another “M is for…” coloring sheet. This time, it is food themed. These food themed alphabet worksheets not only help kids recognize letters and their sounds, but show them a food for every single letter of the alphabet as well.

This can help make a wide variety of foods fun and interesting!

I hope you enjoy these letter M coloring pages, I know my kids do! Learning your alphabet through different kinds of play is a great way to add variety to your days and also have something for your binders or portfolios.
